“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in various forms.”

1 Peter 4:10

How It All Started

Hi! I’m Melissa Laughlin—wife, mom, entrepreneur, and a girl after God’s own heart. I’m also the founder and CEO of The Blessed Home Project.

This story actually started when I was 19 years old and launched my own cleaning business. Over the years, the company grew, but so did a deeper stirring in my spirit—there had to be more. I began to realize that during times of hardship, most people show support with meals (which is a beautiful gesture), but I kept thinking, “What if someone came and cleaned their home too?” Sometimes, that practical act of service—scrubbing the floors, cleaning the bathrooms, restoring order—could speak just as loudly as a warm casserole. So, I started doing just that for friends and loved ones walking through tough seasons.

Then one day while working, God spoke clearly to my heart: This is the ministry. Start the nonprofit.

My husband and I took it to prayer, seeking clarity and direction. In 2020, we took the leap of faith—formed the board, completed the legal steps, and launched what would become The Blessed Home Project. By 2021, we were officially serving families in our community with the gift of cleaning and the hope of Jesus.

This organization was born out of obedience, compassion, and a simple desire to be a light. Through the practical act of cleaning, we lift a burden and create space for healing, rest, and restoration. It’s our joy and calling to bring hope home—one family at a time.

Today, this ministry doesn’t just clean homes—we host community outreaches, pray over families, and preach the Word of God to those who are hurting. We’ve seen lives touched, hearts healed, and burdens lifted—all because of simple obedience. Every step we’ve taken has been by faith, and every door that’s opened has been by God’s grace.

Meet My Family

I couldn’t do any of this without the love and support of my amazing family. My husband has stood beside me every step of the way, believing in this vision and walking it out with strength and faith. Together, we’ve raised our children in a home centered on Jesus, service, and community.

We’re in this together—building something that will impact generations. Our family’s prayer is simple: Lord, use us.

Meet the Team

  • Brenda Cischke

    DIRECTOR of OPERATIONS
    Volunteer Opportunities & Community Outreach

I bring empathy, motivation, and a heart for organization to every project I’m part of. For me, it’s a true privilege to serve, listen to, and pray with the individuals and families we encounter through The Blessed Home Project.

Whether I'm helping behind the scenes or engaging face-to-face at community outreach events and vendor opportunities, I count it all joy to be part of this ministry.

This work gives me the opportunity to live out 2 Corinthians 1:3–4—comforting others with the same comfort I’ve received from God.

  • Kelly Endsley

    PROJECT COORDINATOR
    Nominations & Scheduling Process

I joined Blessed Home Project first as a volunteer after hearing about it through our church. When the ministry began to grow, I felt called to step into a staff role. Now, I coordinate cleanings and connect with recipients, helping lift the burden of housework so they can focus on healing.

I consider it an honor to be part of what God is doing through this ministry.

  • Ian Stevenson

    PROJECT MANAGER
    Cleaning Projects Lead

I was first introduced to the Blessed Home Project when they came to clean for my family during one of the hardest seasons of our lives—my son needed a bone marrow transplant, and my daughter was his donor. Their support meant the world to us.

That experience lit a fire in me to pay it forward. When I saw an opportunity to join the BHP team, I knew it was the right fit. Being part of a team that serves others with such compassion and care has been a true blessing.

It is more blessed to give than to receive.
